Welcome to that final Master Class of 2016! I wanted to do a bit more than that typical Master Class this time around. It’s a bit of everything this time around. Consider it our annual “potpourri edition.” 🙂
I’ll split this up in to two videos. And I apologize right off the bat that this is longer than our typical 20 minute allotted time.
Here’s a bit of what we’ll cover:
- The upcoming “Love Your Light” course (included in GRADS). The “Lighting 101” course I mentioned a couple months ago is evolving as I continue to outline what I want to include. “Love Your Light” will cover more of the best information available…and in less time.
- First steps with your speedlight. Many received a speed for Christmas. I include some thoughts for getting started (both some important “theory” as well as some practical tips).
- Gear News. Not as in “what has been announced this month.” But rather, I will be paying more attention to gear news and reviews and filtering that for our GRADS audience. Learn why…and while I don’t reveal if I’m switching from Canon to Sony or Nikon, I give peek at some impressions.
- SPS 2017 Projects and Roadmap: I’m sharing exactly what we’ll be working on in 2017 for SPS. There’s something in there for everyone!
Okay, to make these long videos more manageable, I’m including some time stamps below. That way if you’re not into one section, you can just fast forward. My feelings won’t be hurt at all. 🙂
1:42 | “Love Your Light” preview
4:24 | Speedlight quick tips intro (this really started on Facebook)
5:38 | The 2 options for controlling your speedlight power (manual vs TTL)
12:18 | High Speed Sync
13:40 | 3 practical tips for getting good speedlight results early on.
17:48 | Getting flash color correct indoors (at night)
Without further delay, here’s video #1 (also, sorry for the very yellowish light…I’ll get that fixed next time…or else I’ll go nuts):
